LinkIt Smart 7688 is an open development platform based on the OpenWrt Linux distribution, which is for embedded devices(typically wireless routers). This means that you can make your own router with all the features you need on your LinkIt smart 7688.
Things you need:
Linkit smart 7688 *1
Breakout for LinkIt smart 7688 *1
Ethernet cable *1
USB Cable *1
Connect the Breakout for LinkIt smart 7688 into a local area network(LAN) with an enternet cable, then move to the next step.
Login the LinkIt smart 7688 terminal via SSH or serial, then you can change the different working mode of OpenWrt with editing the configuration file.
And now, we can try to set 7688 into Routed AP mode. Edit /etc/config/network with vim and modify it as the following picture:
config interface 'lan' option proto 'static' option netmask '255.255.255.0' option ipaddr '192.168.100.1' config interface 'wan' option ifname 'eth0' option proto 'dhcp'
Then restart the LinkIt smart 7688 with “reboot” command
Now you can connect your devices to 7688’s wifi without password! If your devices can surf the Internet, that means you make your own router successfully!
For security, our router needs a passwd to forbidden the stranger. So we can edit /etc/config/wireless file to set it.
Modify /etc/config/wireless as the following picture with vim, my password is 12345678, and of course you can change it to what you like.
config wifi-iface 'ap' option device 'radio0' option mode 'ap' option network 'lan' option ifname 'ra0' option encryption 'none' option ssid 'LinkIt_Smart_7688_1C0C46' option seq '1' option encryption 'psk2' option key '12345678'
After that, reboot 7688 to update the setting. Now you need to enter the password to access the wifi.
